  • Askham Bryan College

    The college provides full-time, part-time and short courses, as well as work-based learning programmes for the land-based and related industries. Courses are offered from foundation to advanced level in a range of subjects including agriculture, business, countryside management and horticulture. The college is also recognised as a Centre of Vocational Excellence in Food Chain Technology, offers a rural business research unit and is part of a research consortium with Cambridge, Exeter, Nottingham and Newcastle Upon Tyne universities.   • Bioscience for Business

    Launched in early 2006, this is one of the latest government initiatives that recognises the strength of the Bioscience activity currently taking place in York. Dianna Bowles, the head of CNAP, chairs the organisation. Bioscience for Business is a knowledge transfer network which aims to be outward facing and international. It seeks complementarity of the UK's knowledge base and skills with targets identified by the global business community and has particular focus on developing a renewable and sustainable economy for the UK.

  • Bioscience York - Science City York

    Bioscience York is one of three technology business clusters supported by Science City York. This cluster is characterised by businesses, entrepreneurs and research organisations working in bioscience, healthcare and environmental technologies in York and North Yorkshire. Bioscience York can provide services including specialised business support, regular networking opportunities, information on funding opportunities, and business seminar events. Membership is free.

  • Federation of Small Businesses

    IENICA (the Interactive European Network for Industrial Crops and their Applications) is hosted at the Central Science Laboratory York. IENICA is a far-reaching, integrated network linking otherwise independent organisations and initiatives involved in the development of renewable materials from crops throughout Europe, and beyond.

  • The University of York

  • Research and Development Grants

    As well as managing the normal Grant for R&D for companies with less than 250 employees on behalf of the DTI, Yorkshire Forward also run their own Industrial R&D Award for Large Companies. The scheme is looking to support significant research projects and offers up to 50% funding for industrial research or 25% for pre competitive development.
