More and more Creative organisations are flocking to York & North Yorkshire each year.
The Creative and Cultural industries represent a great growth sector in the county, seeing a rise in employment within the sector of 16.4% outstripping the 6.4% growth of the Yorkshire and Humber region.
In 2005 North Yorkshire employed 11,600 individuals in Creative Industries with 90% employed and 10% self-employed.
The uprising of the Creative sector has seen the region become the home to over 2600 organisations across North Yorkshire, representing a 10% growth between 1999 and 2003.
Creative Industries Cluster activity across North Yorkshire
From the figures below you can see the greatest density of Creative Industries activity is in the economic hubs of York, Harrogate and Scarborough. However what is also clearly visible from the spread of Creative Industries throughout the county showing the wide strength and presence of the Creative Industries sector not only in urban locations but across rural settings too.
