The area boasts the UK's largest concentration of food research and production facilities, such as the Central Science Laboratory and the Food Chain Centre of Industrial Collaboration. York & North Yorkshire dominates a number of food sectors and is home to some of the world’s best-known food producers including: Nestle, Greencore Grocery Ltd, Wensleydale Foods Ltd, McCain Foods and Richmond Foods.
North Yorkshire's agriculture provides wheat, dairy, fruit, salad and meat ingredients for the specialist fine food producers in the region. Another great attraction for incoming companies is the fact that UK supermarket giants Asda and Morrisons are both headquartered in Yorkshire.
