The Department of Computer Science at the University of York is one of the leading computer science departments in the UK. It is one of only three rated 6* - the highest possible in the UK Government's Research Assessment Exercise. The department currently has some 400 undergraduates, 100 taught postgraduates and 100 full time research students.

This annual event aims to celebrate and resource the re-imaging of Scarborough as it grows into its new role as a home to the growing community of digital businesses, high-tech education and innovative artists & musicians. Digital Scarborough 2006 was a success, with participants such as Matt Locke, the Innovation Director of the BBC and audio-visual pioneers Hexstatic. The event is sponsored by Yorkshire Forward and the LSC via Aimhigher North Yorkshire.

IT Academy
A part of the university of York, this organisation is an accredited Microsoft IT Academy offering customers the full Microsoft Official Curriculum. The academy works to deliver high quality ICT training for both university staff & local companies within the Yorkshire Region. Courses are very flexible and can be held at the Science Park or at individual offices within York & North Yorkshire. E-Learning is also offered to SME's and there are a range of courses to choose from. The academy was established with the help of the LSC and Yorkshire Forward, in partnership with Science City York and the White Rose Consortium.

The School of Arts and New Media was created on the 1st August 2006 when the Universities Centre for Internet Computing combined with the School of Arts to form a united department that drives forward the important relationship between Creativity and Technology.

The department now has over 170 students studying across a range of topic areas, including Digital Media, Theatre and Internet Computing.Selby College
Selby College achieved the status of a Centre of Vocational Excellence in ICT. The college offers superb IT facilities, courses and training, attracting learners from all over Yorkshire and the Humber. The College is currently going through a substantial rebuilding programme which has so far resulted in the construction of a new £4m Academy building, that includes a fully equipped Learning Resource Centre and computing facilities designed for virtual learning.
