From past to present
york-england.com was originally the York Inward Investment Board which was set up in June 1997 as a partnership between the City of York Council, leading local businesses, the University of York and regional agencies.
In October 2003 the company's remit expanded to provide an inward investment service to the whole of York and North Yorkshire, it was at this point that the company began operating under the trading name york-england.com.
Over the past six years through funding from our supporting partners, Yorkshire Forward, the City of York Council and North Yorkshire County Council, york-england.com has successfully assisted in the relocation of 127 companies, directly creating 1380 jobs. This number can be significantly increased when you consider the additional jobs in the supply chain created as a result.
Examples of some past successes:
CPP: The UK's leading life assistance business opened its main headquarters in York in 1998 and now employ over 1,000 people in York alone.
GHD: In November 2006 Australian owned GHD chose York as the base for its growing European operations.
