Green-tech win Environmental Product of the Year 2006
York based Green-tech Ltd, provider of landscape and forestry sundries, have won the National Recycling Awards Environmental Product of the Year 2006 with their product GT Greentree.
GT Greentree is an extremely fertile, weed and stone free recycled soil. The soil is created by combining processed organic waste, from Yorkshire Water PLC, with green compost waste collected from various regional Metropolitan councils (including Leeds and Bradford), then blended together with waste quarry sand.
Ideal for landscaping and construction purposes, GT Greentree can be used for a wide range of applications such as structure planting, retail parks, housing developments and public parks and gardens. Due to its diversity the long-term benefits and potential of this product really are significant.
The award was received at Bournemouth International Centre in front of an 850 strong environmentally conscious crowd, including representatives from Tesco, Boots and Butlin's. Mark Whiting, Sales Director at Green-tech, said: "We have found that over 92% of landscapers or builders that use the soil go on to reorder and recognise its quality and benefits. It is a superb environmental product that the team have worked extremely hard on and are extremely proud of. The award is a great way to acknowledge this."
Green-tech have expanded its GT Greentree operations from their original site in Dewsbury and now have sites in Esholt (Bradford), Blaydon (Tyne and Wear) and Tamworth (Staffordshire), and plan to have further sites in Wales and Scotland by the end of 2007.
Penny Hodgson, Investor Support Executive, york-england.com said: "Green-tech are an exciting organisation providing a quality product and service offering. Their award success and expansion plans really signify the strength of the York and North Yorkshire environmental cluster."
