Denise Dodd to Lead york-england.com
Denise is currently Acting Chief Executive and will take up the post immediately.
Following an early career in the financial sector, Denise Dodd was Office Manager for Langleys Solicitors and oversaw their refurbishment of Queens House before going on to manage the Forsyth Business Centre in York. Denise joined york-england.com as Operations Director in May 2003 where she worked as the main link with partner organisations, inward investors and indigenous clients.
Since being made Acting Chief Executive in September 2005 Denise has successfully secured new additional funding for the organisation, and building on her strong links with partners, has developed a strategy which reflects the diverse opportunities available to organisations investing in North Yorkshire, including towns such as Scarborough, Selby and Harrogate.
Brian Percival, Chairman of york-england.com said: "This is great news for North Yorkshire and we are thrilled that Denise has accepted this position on a long-term basis. Denise brings with her a wealth of experience and has already done a tremendous amount of work in making york-england.com what it is - a dynamic, forward-thinking body. We are confident that with her energy and enthusiasm she will move the agency onto the next stage of its development and build on the excellent work that has already been achieved."
York-england.com, formerly the York Inward Investment Board, offers a one-stop service to potential investors including site-finding and property availability, and information on business clusters, business support organisations, workforce and training, local schools and education providers and the quality of life in York and North Yorkshire. They have already enjoyed considerable success in bringing new business to the area, attracting 30 new companies to North Yorkshire over the last 12 months, creating and safeguarding nearly 500 jobs which far exceeded targets for the period.
Commenting on her appointment, Denise Dodd said: "It is a great honour to be chosen to lead york-england.com at this exciting time. I look forward to moving ahead with our plans to adopt a more proactive and strategic approach to marketing our region and establishing North Yorkshire as a premier business location within Northern Europe. Our main aim is to create quality jobs for local people and I believe to do this successfully we must work closely with the Local Authorities with a co-ordinated and united approach to strengthen our offering to potential investors both in the UK and internationally."
Denise serves as a non-Executive Director of the York Professional Initiative and Chair of Selby Property Forum.
