'Get on your bike' offer at Clifton Moor
BUSINESSES moving to a new office complex in York are being given a chance `to get on their bike’ by the property developer.
Two new bicycles are being offered by developer Evans Property Group to every business which moves into Horizon Court, Clifton Moor, York, to help them to reduce their carbon footprint.
The offer, which also includes security devices and helmets, is being made to all businesses which locate to Horizon Park, the latest phase of the Lancaster Park development, Clifton Moor, throughout 2007.
Horizon Court, which has been built using environmentally-efficient materials and practises, currently has seven available self-contained two-storey offices units. The units, which are available to buy or to lease, range from 1,493 sq ft to 2,198 sq ft, and are in a landscaped courtyard setting with bicycle parks and allocated car parking.
Horizon Court sales executive, Lucy Phillips, says: “Addressing climate change is now at the heart of the government and business agenda with organisations and individuals being required to urgently reduce their carbon footprint.
“There are several cycle routes from the Horizon Court area and many retail and leisure amenities nearby and we want, as developer, to help relocating businesses by providing them with a means to reduce their carbon footprint by offering a cycling option to some of their staff.
“It will be up to each business how they decide to use the bicycles – whether they will become the property of particular individuals or retained for the use of all staff – but we hope that they will be useful. Big changes are brought about by the wide adoption of small measures like this and we hope that other developers will follow suit.”
The cycles will be delivered to new occupiers of Horizon Court by York’s largest independent cycle and accessories store, The Bike Outlet, Clifton Moor.
