North Yorkshire’s First Business Ambassadors’ Dinner
In the coming weeks a selection of the most prominent business names in York and North Yorkshire are to receive invitations to the first ever North Yorkshire Ambassadors’ Dinner at Castle Howard. The event, scheduled for April 26th, is being organised by york-england.com and the event sponsors Langleys Solicitors, promising to be one of the most prestigious events in the region’s business calendar this year.
Due to be held twice a year, the aim of the dinner is to encourage business leaders to help spread the word about the benefits of North Yorkshire as a commercial location. The bi-annual event will also provide a venue for the region’s business chiefs to meet, helping them forge stronger relationships and providing a solid platform for investment.
April’s North Yorkshire Ambassadors’ Dinner will commence with a champagne reception hosted by The Hon. Simon Howard, with a keynote speech by Martin Vander Weyer, Business Editor of The Spectator and former City Editor of The Week.
In a recent survey of senior decision makers in the North and South of England carried out on behalf of york-england.com, 44 per cent of respondents from the South had no idea what the region had to offer as a business location. According to Denise Stuart, Chief Executive of york-england.com, “such results highlight the importance of events such as the North Yorkshire Ambassadors’ dinner and the work done by york-england.com in marketing the region as a top business location.
“Business Ambassadors have a vital role to play in helping spread the word about what North Yorkshire can offer as a business location. We have a growing range of thriving business sectors like Bioscience and Creative Industries, as well as an outstanding track record for profitability and quality of life in North Yorkshire, but often investors from outside the region, particularly from the South of England, have no idea of just how great we are as a business base. “
Andy Kay, corporate partner and head of the commercial division at Langleys, comments; “There is no doubt that York and North Yorkshire has benefited from a range of quality businesses finding a home here but there is still room to develop the area further. As a large business ourselves, we recognise the importance of attracting top talent and new investment. We are delighted to be involved with this idea, to put York and North Yorkshire firmly on the map and thereby increase the opportunities for businesses and potential employees in our county.".
Langleys is a leading regional law firm with specialist teams providing a broad range of legal services to businesses, local authorities, charities and private clients.
Over the last decade, inward investment has been instrumental in attracting 130 companies to the region, which has translated to the direct and indirect creation of more than 13,500 jobs. In the last three years alone, since york-england.com expanded its remit from York to the whole of North Yorkshire, it has attracted 61 companies – nearly half the ten year total.
