UK is Number One in Europe
We are "number one in Europe for R&D and leaders in coverting world-class innovation into commercial reality", according to UK Trade & Investment's new guide to Bioscience in the UK.
The guide identifies the UK's key strengths in bioscience, and provides brief profiles of leading companies and research institutions. It is intended to raise the profile of the UK's bioscience sector, and to attract potential investors from overseas. Yorkshire and the Humber's regional expertise in oncology, agricultural biotechnology, medical diagnostics and nutraceuticals is recognised.
The report features a number of successful SMEs based in North Yorkshire, including Paraytec, the award-winning scienctific instrument company; and Bioniqs, a company developing environmentally friendly solvents. The contribution of national research centres based in York is also acknowledged in the guide, which refers to the ongoing work of CNAP (the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products) and NNFCC (National Non-Food Crops Centre).
