Pindar Graphics goes live with new £10 million Investment

Scarborough print and electronic media company Pindar Graphics, has hosted an open house event, to mark the culmination of the company’s £10 million investment, at its headquarters in Thornburgh Road, Eastfield.

The main focus of the three day events is the new Lithoman III short grain web offset press. This substantial investment shows the ongoing commitment from the company to invest in the latest technology which brings with it enhanced service offerings for existing and potential customers. The new press will drive future development and support the company’s contribution to the local economy.

Andrew Dalton, chief executive of Pindar Graphics said: “This is a very exciting time for the business and we’re delighted that business figureheads, customers and employees could join us for this celebration and see the press’ capabilities first hand.”

Each stage of the process from loading the paper to the intricate method of folding and inline stitching was presented.

Mr Dalton added: “The events provide a great opportunity for all visitors, especially our employees, to become involved in the launch of the press and realise the long term sustainable benefits it will bring to them, as well as our customers and suppliers.

“Environmental forethought is already an integral part of how we do business and the new press is no exception. Its features offer energy and environmental efficiencies as well as improving overall workflow and time to market. For example the extension was built to allow for more natural light to come into the press hall and light sensors have been fitted so that artificial light only comes into effect when natural light levels are too low.”

“The new ink pumping system no longer requires the delivery of ink silos but rather a tanker which dispenses ink straight into the pumps via a wall panel.  This cuts down significantly the number of ink deliveries to the site and subsequent disposal of silos tanks.”

This launch comes just three weeks after Pindar announced an innovative sponsorship with Earthwatch, one of the world’s leading environmental organisations, who seeks to engage its employees in environmental programmes at locations as far afield as Alaska and Latin America.

The family run business has agreed to a three year deal with Earthwatch as part of a sustainable change management programme. The new agreement builds on Pindar’s long standing association with sailing and will see Earthwatch working with the company to improve its environmental performance.

In support of Earthwatch's pioneering Sustainable Oceans Programme, Pindar will serve as an Ocean Ambassador to the organisation and brand its sailing activities Team Pindar Earthwatch to raise awareness of the charity's work amongst new audiences.
