Companies join forces to improve telecommunications for York businesses
Wednesday 1st July 2009
York businesses are to benefit from better internet connectivity and communication support services as two leading providers join forces.
York Data Services provide support to businesses across North Yorkshire and recently signed a long term contract with aql, a Leeds-based wholesale telecoms provider. The partnership provides York Data Services with 10,000 new telephone numbers to serve businesses within the York area and aims to provide long term connectivity and communication support services throughout the region, offering an improved and accelerated service.
This successful relationship was borne from a Yorkshire Forward initiative – “Yorkshire Interconnect” – a forum for the regional service providers to exchange ideas and to increase the accessibility of data access among Yorkshire based businesses.
Jim Farmery, Assistant Director of Business for Yorkshire Forward comments: “As Government announces its aims for Digital Britain we’re delighted to be involved with initiatives such as Yorkshire Interconnect, in bringing Yorkshire and Humber to the forefront of digital technologies and ensuring it moves ever closer to becoming a truly Digital Region. This partnership is a positive and tangible result from the meetings in a very short timescale, we hope to see it grow and many more like this become reality.”
aql and York Data Services share a vision for improving communications throughout the region. York Data Services unique service ensures that companies remain connected to the web with a high speed fibre optic broadband service. This super fast fibre optic connection ensures that hundreds of companies and business parks throughout North Yorkshire receive a first-class experience.
The partnership allows York Data Services and their business customers access to a range of business services. aql’s Managing Director Adam Beaumont spoke about the latest partnership saying “We’re excited to be working closely with York Data Services and to be supporting them in their campaign to offer a better and lower priced communications network for companies across the region.”
aql is one of the regions leading wholesale telephone services providers, supporting over 34 million phone numbers, whilst York Data Services distinctive business model is recognised as the premier supplier of fibre optics to business parks throughout North Yorkshire.
Mark Fordyce Chairman / CEO of York Data Services commented “We are excited to be working with aql, this opportunity allows us to give North Yorkshire businesses access to an exciting combination of communication services alongside our new IP Voice telephone solution, all delivered seamlessly over fibre optic broadband connectivity.”
