Save9 and NYnet impress the Poles

A delegation of Polish business leaders visited Scarborough to see at first hand the success of local IT firm Save9 and its partnership with NYnet.
NYnet, owned by North Yorkshire County Council, is behind Europe’s largest public sector-led broadband initiative after rolling out high speed internet access to rural areas of the county.
As NYnet’s first internet service provider since its launch, Scarborough-based Save9 now provides broadband locally to Pindar and Dale Power Solutions, both with offices on Scarborough Business Park.
The team of Polish visitors chose to come to Scarborough to learn from both Save9 and Nynet how they too could employ similar services in their business communities.
Lech Janiszewski, member of the Board of Regional Administration for Poland, said: “Our delegation is from various regions in Poland and we came to hear how NYnet was created, how the business plan was formulated, the technical aspects of the network and other lessons learned across the business with practical examples shown by Save9, NYnet’s first service provider.
“Our delegation will then report back to respective departments who are in the process of either seeking funding for similar projects or about to roll out their projects, to help them with planning.”
Piotr Kaczor, project co-ordinator for Malopolska Region, said: “It was useful for us to see how NYnet was helping with the economic regeneration of North Yorkshire by working with IT integration companies like Save9 who have aspirations to become a national Internet Service Provider offering online business-to-business services.”
Following the presentations given by NYnet and Save9, the visit ended with a traditional fish and chips dinner, provided by Scarborough’s Golden Grid Restaurant.
Nationally Save9, based at Woodend Creative Workspace, provides internet services to organisations such as British Antartic Survey, Queen Mary University in London, and the Lavendon Group.
Save9 will be exhibiting at the International Business Forum, held next Wednesday and Thursday at the Scarborough Spa Complex.
