Boost for businesses to beat the recession
Thursday 5th November 2009
Three local community leaders are coming together to offer support to businesses in the Harrogate district.
Business Link Yorkshire, Harrogate Borough Council and Craven District are working together to deliver a free “Winning Ways Business Event” in the Queen’s Suite at Harrogate International Centre on 30 November 2009.
Between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm, delegates will hear from five local experts covering such issues as understanding finance, turning websites into a customer magnet, win new customers and enter new markets, win public sector business and get the most out of your people.
Businesses can drop in any time between 12.30 pm and 3.00 pm and meet buyers from Harrogate and Craven councils as well as other local public sector organisations.
Wallace Sampson, chief executive of Harrogate Borough Council, will open the event. He said: “All public sector bodies have a duty as local community leaders to do what we can to support and develop local businesses. This is part of our day job but during this continuing recession I have asked our economic development team to consider ways in which we can offer even more practical support. As well as attending a number of business markets around the district, we are also running more of this type of free workshop.
“We work very closely with Craven District Council and are currently looking at some joint procurement arrangements. I was delighted therefore that Craven Council agreed to join Harrogate and Business Link Yorkshire in hosting this event.”
As well as networking with other organisations, delegates will be able to meet business development and procurement officers from the three host organisations.
