New proprietors at the Crown Inn, Great Ouseburn

Wednesday 16th December 2009

The Crown Inn at Great Ouseburn, near Boroughbridge, will be re-opened next week by new proprietors Liz and Paul Jackson.

The Crown Inn has been vacant for six months and the new proprietors will look to bring new life into the business and new employment to the village and wider area when they open its doors to the public at 7pm on Monday the 21st December, with a grand opening to follow in the New Year.

The Crown Inn has a rich heritage; research suggests that it has been a focal point of the village and the local community since the 1700s. The new proprietors have been sympathetic to this history and have spent time restoring the original features of the building and embracing its past in the décor.

Between them Liz and Paul Jackson have over 25 years' experience in catering and hospitality. This experience will be used to good effect creating a quality customer experience that reflects their values.

Proprietor Paul Jackson said: “We are passionate about food, drink and quality service and aim to reflect this in the experience customers receive at The Crown Inn. We have a strong focus on locally sourcing our produce and real ale selection and this will be evident in our food and drink offer throughout the year.

“We set ourselves a target to be open before Christmas and have worked extremely hard to achieve that goal, ensuring the local area has a common place to enjoy the festive period. Although we will be open for business from the 21st we plan to have an official grand opening in the New Year.

“We are extremely excited about becoming part of the local community and adding to the already very strong food and drink offering available across North Yorkshire.”

Denise Stuart, chief executive, york-england.com, said: “It is fantastic to see the re-opening of a business that is of such value to the local community and wider area. As well as providing a much-missed service the proprietors of The Crown Inn will be creating a number of new jobs, which is extremely positive. I wish Liz and Paul the very best of luck in their new venture and long may the history of The Crown Inn continue.”

The Crown Inn will be open on a daily basis from the 21st December 2009. Bookings can now be made by calling 01423 330013. For more information on The Crown Inn please visit www.thecrown-inn.com.
