HIC appoint new head of sales & marketing

Thursday 21st January 2010

Harrogate International Centre, (HIC), continues strategic development following its £13m expansion announcement last year, by appointing Paul Phillips as head of Sales and Marketing.

Paul is a fully chartered marketer and comes with an impressive pedigree. He's worked with the world’s largest ISO auditors, LRQA Ltd, as head of overseas operations gaining international experience with assignments in Hong Kong and China, as well as the middle-east region, notably Dubai.

From there Paul joined Lloyd’s Register, the International Ship Classification Society, as head of corporate marketing for the energy and transport business.

More recently he was director of business development for the events and media agency Logistik.

Taking up his new appointment Paul said: “I am delighted to be joining HIC and to be heading up a team of well motivated professionals.

"I am currently reviewing strategic and operational objectives to ensure we connect with our clients and our markets to achieve effective relationships that are commercially viable for all.

"As the country emerges from recession HIC will continue to provide excellent value, upheld by brilliant service delivery in surroundings that, in my opinion, are second to none.”

"HIC’s business proposition is hard to beat. Located in the middle of the UK and with excellent transport links, its appeal pulls business visitors from all points of the UK. This is an important factor for clients in order that their events are well attended and geographically representative.

"Furthermore, once visitors are here they don’t have to battle with the unenviable burden of traffic congestion because hotels, restaurants and bars, are all within easy walking distance of the centre and each other. I believe this factor alone puts us ahead of city venues.”

January is certainly proving to be a brisk month for HIC with several contracts returned for 2010 events, and two new signings. Both BAPEN (British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition) and the CPHVA (Community Practitioners’ & Health Visitors’ Association) bring their 2010 events to HIC in the autumn.
