Another successful breakfast at the Mansion House
Wednesday 17th February 2010
Some of York's most influential business people came together at the Mansion House for the second Lord Mayor's Business Breakfast held in partnership with york-england.com
Nearly 60 leaders from the private sector, as well as key figures in education and politics, met in February for what has become one of the region's most succesful networking events.
Guest speaker at the event was Peter Brown, head of York's Civic Trust, who called for the city to concentrate on building its 'brand' to increase its appeal to business throughout the UK and beyond.
Jennie Walker, director of Intergral Design and Media, based on Clifton Moor in York, attended the event for the first time. She described how she found it useful:
"While you find good quality networking events in York there aren't many opportunities to network with senior business leaders and there seemed to be a good mix of public sector indiviuals and leaders of small and medium enterprises," she said.
"Events like the Lord Mayor's Business Breakfast are valuable in that they foster the sharing of information and contact details. I also think they provide a support network to many business leaders who often work long hours in difficult times.
"Follow up activities are very rewarding, and we have certainly gained business and good suppliers from these type of events."
