Craven

Craven is a rural district of outstanding natural beauty, with many idyllic market towns, villages and hamlets nestled amongst the breathtaking rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales.

Skipton is the hub of the district, providing leisure and shopping, including a bustling market, held four times a week throughout the town's old winding streets.

It's no secret that the quality of life available in Craven is outstanding, with Skipton being ranked amongst Barclays Banks recent top 50 list of 'real wealth'.

Industry in the district has traditionally been based around agriculture, quarrying and textiles. Tourism now features heavily in Craven due to the wealth of natural wonders and historical sights.

Craven looks set to prosper, as Skipton and Settle are both part of the Renaissance Market Towns programme, a pioneering ten year plan created by Yorkshire Forward to support the development of market towns in the Yorkshire and the Humber region, positively impacting on the region as a whole by generating sustainability and improvements in quality of life.
