Ryedale is a varied and beautiful area of spectacular scenery, bustling market towns and picturesque villages.  Situated between York and the North Yorkshire Coast, the North York Moors form the northern border of the District and the Yorkshire Wolds the southern limit.

Malton has long been regarded as the centre of Ryedale, it is a market town full of activity, with a street market on Saturdays and a livestock market two times a week.  Helmsley is one of North Yorkshires most popular market towns housing some unique boutiques and acting as the starting point for a number of National Trails such as the Cleveland Way.  The market town of Pickering is the official gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.  From here you can explore the breathtaking scenery aboard England's longest steam railway.

With tourist attractions including Flamingo Land; which successfully combines a theme park, zoo and holiday park, and Eden Camp; an interactive World War Two museum, there are thrilling days out in Ryedale for all ages.  Visitors are drawn to the districts spectacular heritage sites including Castle Howard and Duncombe Park.

Ryedale is a constantly developing district, with several key regeneration projects identified in the areas market towns through the recent Renaissance Market Towns Initiative.

The district is in a perfect position to take advantage of the whole county's offerings.  The East Coast can be reached easily by car, bus or train, so you can be walking along Scarborough Pier in no time at all.  The hustle and bustle of city life isn't far away either, with York accessible within 30 minutes and Leeds only an hour away.
